CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP – ISA 8:16; 50:4

[By Robert Arthur]   A Bible Class Tracts No. 2 Introduction Discipleship is the biblical concept of modelling, learning and mentoring Christ Jesus. In other words it is the process of learning to become like Christ Jesus. 1 Cor 11:1  The Greek word disciple “mathetis” means “one who engages in learning through instructions from someone who has reputation or particular set of views.” And the Latin comes from the word “discipulus” which also means “a learner or student.” In the ancient biblical world the word disciple was mainly applied to someone who imitated both the life, views and teachings of his master.  Sometimes applied to the followers of Moses. Jn 9:28, John the Baptist. Mt 9:14, the Pharisees. Mt 22:16. But mostly to the followers of Christ Jesus. Mt 5:1, Mk 7:17 Discipleship involves a call to fully counting the cost, carrying one’s cross and surrounding one’s self to the Lord. Lk 9:23; 14:28-32.   Hence our discipleship is to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lk 9:57, Col 3...

If Jehovah be God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” 1 Kgs 18:21 Those statements were the serious grief concern of the great prophet of God! Since the creation of our world man has been limping between two opposite sides of great walls. We are found uncontrollably in between two enemy giants. Indeed we shall forever stand in between two foes! Is either we are in between Truth and Error, Darkness and Light or Love and Hatred. And for that matter we are prone to choose one whom we may sincerely and faithfully serve. Whether to Good or Bad, or to Righteousness or Unrighteousness. Or whether to choose and follow God or serve Satan. At every given turning point of man’s life he stands to choose and serve one of these two giants. We are limping between two opposite Great Walls! Our firs...

A LESSON FROM THREE (3) OLD TESTAMENT PERSONS – EZK 14:1-23

[By Robert Arthur] A Bible Class Booklet No. 1 We know the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is the ultimate property God has given to Christians. It beholds on us to treasure the Word of God, to hold it in reverence and to preach about it. Besides, the Bible is the only book which does not just speaks of the characters of good people. But it also laments on the bad characters as well. Those who pleased the Lord received His praise and reward. Those that were wicked, evil and distasteful got their due punishment respectively from the Just God, like Cain & Abel in the Book of Genesis 4. However, the Bible commits and encourages all of us to emulate the recorded characters of good people it presents. 3 John 11 In Chapter 14 of the Book of Ezekiel, the Prophet Ezekiel brought up the memories of three distinct persons of his predecessors into the limelight. The Elders of Israel have engaged themselves in folly and idolatry. Their idolatry was so boldly drawn in their faces....
